Midlothian's hockey club...

Eskvale Hockey Club know that children are our future and we want to give every child in Midlothian the opportunity to try hockey.

We have recently extended our coaching and now run 5 Community Clubs for kids aged 8 – 13 inclusive during school term time.  (Click here for dates.) These groups are taken by qualified coaches who are PVG and Positive Coaching Scotland accredited.  As well as being coached in hockey, these clubs give the children the opportunity build confidence, develop teamwork, inter-personal skills, make new friendships and, most importantly, have fun and in a safe environment.  Don’t worry if you’ve never played before, or don’t have equipment.  Everyone has to start somewhere and we have sticks you can borrow at the clubs.  You will have to supply your own shin guards though. Also, gumshields are recommended.

From 26/08/19 our clubs are held on the following days and venues -

  • Monday: Loanhead Leisure Centre, George Ave, Loanhead, 5-6pm
  • Tuesday:  Tennis Courts, King's Park, Dalkeith, 5-6pm
  • Wednesday: YMCA-YWCA, Queensway, Penicuik, 6-7pm
  • Thursday: Lasswade HS, Eskdale Dr, Bonnyrigg, 5-6pm  - LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE
  • Friday: 3-4pm Lasswade HS, Eskdale Dr, Bonnyrigg

Please check our calendar, Facebook page or Twitter feeds for dates or contact our coaches here.  The cost is £3.50 a session.  Before attending, please complete the membership form below and bring it along to the first session.

These classes also give children membership of Scottish Hockey and the chance to play for our u/12 and u/14 teams.  These teams play in the Edinburgh League on alternate Sunday mornings at Mary Erskine's School.  These games are 6-a-side, 20 minutes long on 1/4 pitches.  Everyone that plays is guaranteed equal game time.

Our coaches also work in partnership with Active Schools to offer hockey taster sessions at breakfast clubs, lunchtimes and after school in primary schools throughout Midlothian.  Watch out for Active School leaflets at the start of each term in your child's schoolbag.
